Moudjour rug from Anatolia, Turkey, hand-knotted wool on wool, for this beautiful, colorful model.
Antique rug, from the first part of the 20th century, borrowing from a magnificent tribal modernism.
It measures 115 cm (45") wide and 220 cm (86") long.
This piece is distinguished by a profusion of bright and shimmering colors, a characteristic of Moudjour and very often of tribal rugs created by Anatolian women.
The design, composed of beautiful ornamentation, consists of a large plum medallion crenellated at both ends, presenting two large stylized flowers within it.
The whole is surrounded by blue spandrels, decorated with trees of life in orange-red vases.
The decoration found on the borders consists of pomegranates and flowers, orange, blue, green and plum.
These rural rugs, knotted by village women, are always full of fantasy and liveliness.
The carefully spun wool is of very good quality, soft and fine, the patterns have been there since the dawn of time.
For this model we clearly feel the Persian influence, medallion, field, spandrels and borders, transmitted with a certain naivety. This carpet has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
I have a great passion for these carpets which have a shine,
a liveliness that can only be found in Anatolia or the Maghreb.
