"17th Century Dutch Renaissance Armoire Ebony And Mahogany"
Superb Dutch armoire called "Kussenkast" from the 17th century, probably around 1670 - 1680. Made of rosewood, ebony and ebonized wood veneered over solid oak. Typically 17th century, it was made of oak and ebony and rosewood veneer. The decoration of the front, extremely geometric, is executed in the architectural format typical of 17th century Dutch furniture. Molded frieze and cornice, set with three lion heads, rectangular paneled doors decorated with molded cornices and scrolled foliage, half-round pillars with carved capitals, the cabinetwork is incredible. The sides also have rectangular panels with molded cornices. The lower part has two drawers with original ebony handles, sitting on five spherical feet.
