Pierre BenigniPierre Benigni, born in 1878, is a famous military painter of the 20th century, specializing in Napoleonic armies. A student of the master Édouard Detaille, he became, after Maurice Mahut, the official military painter of the Legion and immortalized the foot regiments, the mounted companies or the cavalry regiments. He collaborated in particular with the great collectors Raoul & Jean Brunon, creators of the Military Museum of the Château de l'Empéri, during the various editions produced. We owe him the illustration of the Golden Book of the Foreign Legion, published on the occasion of its centenary in 1931.
