Elegant Italian console made in the Neoclassical period (1770-1800), ‘in the Louis XVI style’, made in the Tuscany region.
The structure is finely carved wood, lacquered and gilded, topped with a Brocatelle d'espagne marble.
Its wide band with a lacquered background in ochre-butter tones beneath the marble is adorned with frames featuring Neoclassical motifs on each side, including rosettes, urns surrounded by flowing acanthus, and fleur-de-lis, all offering a beautiful balance and symmetry.
The four tapered legs are fluted, decorated with rings of laurel leaves, acanthus, and pearls.
This console could be accompanied by the important Neoclassical cushion mirror, made of richly carved wood, gilded and silver-plated, also present in our gallery (see photo).
