Beautiful object! Beautiful head of an archangel that was probably part of a lost altarpiece, probably from elm wood. Face of this archangel is typical of religious art from period of le Roi Soleil, with a certain resemblance….
Condition: it is a fragment of a larger sculpture, a superb face, powerful hair, and beginning of a wing… from natural wood, we see a layer of primer under wax, a few woodworm holes cut a little on face, and everything stops at neck.
