Beautiful still life by the painter Georges Jeannin depicting a bouquet of roses in a vase.
The brushwork is precise, the colors remarkably crafted to bring his composition to life.
A painter of flowers and still lifes, Georges Jeannin trained by working from the age of 20 for a manufacturer, creating decorative paintings. He later became a student of the painter Vincelet.
He participated in the Salon des Artistes Français from 1868 until his death in 1925. He received various distinctions during his participations, where his work was critically acclaimed.
In 1879, he became a Member of the Association of French Artists. Success was swift, and his works were acquired by the French government for various museums in Paris and the Hôtel de Ville. In 1903, he was awarded the Legion of Honor. He also became President of the Society of Flower Painters. Along with the painter Cresbon, he created the Salon du Passage at the Hôtel de Ville in Paris. An extremely gifted painter, Georges Jeannin was also a talented musician.
His works are now housed in numerous museums in Paris: the Musée d'Orsay, the Petit Palais, and in other regions: Béziers, Dijon, Rouen, Mulhouse, and more.
