Oil on panel signed lower right with marine anchor, 27x22cm, 35x30 with frame Entered the Beaux-Arts of Paris in 1914, he was a student of Fernand Cormon and Jean Pierre Laurens, then after his voluntary engagement during the First World War returned to Cormon's studio in 1919, worked with Charles Fouqueray before settling in a studio in Montmartre in 1923. He discovered Brittany which would have a lasting influence on his work in 1924. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and obtained numerous awards including a medal in 1927 as well as several prizes for his "colonial" works. Appointed painter of the navy in 1931, and painter of the armies in 1945, he is especially recognized today for his Finistère landscapes and marine themes. His paintings are very present in public collections.
