Rare Antique Chelsea Porcelain Shepherd and Shepherdess Figures

Exquisite and rare pair of Chelsea porcelain figurines, hand-painted with floral details, gilt accents, and finely sculpted pastoral elements. These 18th-century figures depict a shepherdess with a lamb and a shepherd with a dog, both dressed in period attire and set on Rococo-moulded bases with gilt embellishments.

The shepherdess wears a turquoise blouse and floral-patterned skirt, holding a bouquet of flowers, while the shepherd is dressed in a pink jacket and hat, holding a flower in his hand. These figures are beautifully painted in rich enamels, reflecting the exceptional craftsmanship of Chelsea porcelain during this period. The base bears the Chelsea mark corresponding to its mid-18th century production.

The Chelsea Porcelain Factory, established in 1743, was one of England’s earliest porcelain manufacturers. It became renowned for its high-quality, finely detailed pieces, often inspired by 18th-century paintings. Chelsea porcelain was highly prized by the wealthy and frequently presented as royal gifts.
