17th Century - Central Italy - Ebony Veneered Travel Desk

Extraordinary travel desk of monastic use and manufacture, in beech wood veneered with ebony and internally covered in decorated paper of the peigné ondulé type.
The guilloché frame that surrounds the edges of the piece is also in ebony!
Tuscany/Umbria - 17th century.
The desk, which is in excellent condition, is characterized by the presence of the original paper and by the three compartments, one of which is hidden on the side, which sliding to the right reveals the space for the powder (with original perforated tin container), for the ink and for the pens.
The low front drawer is designed for bulkier accessories, while the upper one is for the sheets.
The opening of the latter occurs by pressing the small pin, which releases the lock from the hook of the lid.
This and the rest of the hardware are original.
A very rare and valuable object, splendidly preserved and original.
