Louis XVI Period 2-seater Sofa, Aubusson Tapestry

2-seater cabriolet sofa in carved and lacquered wood, gendarme hat backrest. 18th-century Aubusson tapestry in polychrome wool and silk with floral decoration on a village background. Beautiful Parisian production from the late Louis XVI period, upholstered in a very fine tapestry in excellent condition that has kept its fresh colors. Very good original condition; this seat has been completely restored: completely unpinned, reassembled, tapestry removed, lined and reinforced with a canvas sewn on the reverse to ensure strength, then the whole thing completely reassembled. 18th-century tapestries are very fragile, dry out over time and tear. This one has been preserved to extend its lifespan by 100 years with occasional use. The restoration that was done was expensive, but it is the best there is. Beautiful collector's item.
