Important oil on canvas by the French artist Marie-Joseph Léon Clavel (1850-1923), who used the pseudonym Iwill. Signed lower left plus mention Dordrecht and dated Bucolic atmosphere of the banks of the Meuse on the island of Dordrecht located in Holland in the heart of the Rhine Delta, Fishing boats and others, intended for transport, evolve in the tranquility of the river with flowery banks, punctuated by the slow rotations of the blades of the mills bordering the river. Beautiful sky with blue and pink tones contrasted by a few clouds. Work signed, located and dated lower left, countersigned and located on the frame, on the back old transport label. Beautiful old frame in wood and gilded and lacquered stucco. Dimensions with frame 122 x 95.5cm Iwill became a member of the French Artists in 1883 and received numerous distinctions during his career, including a silver medal at the 1889 Universal Exhibition and a bronze medal at the 1900 Exhibition. He was named a knight of the Legion of Honor in 1894, and his works are present in numerous museums, notably Dijon, Rouen, Bourg en Bresse, Castres and Béziers.
