"Ancient Needle Painting Embroidery On Silk"
A woman depicted in profile, seated at the foot of a tree, contemplating a body of water. The hands and face are painted directly on the silk, while everything else is "painted" with needle embroidery using silk threads.
This work, from the mid-19th century and very likely French, is framed in a simple fir frame stained walnut color.
The absence of some embroidered parts is noted, which can only be seen by enlarging the images, as overall, the embroidery is perfectly readable and appears flawless.
