Marks on the base.
Set consisting of a washbasin and tray decorated with bands of floral plant elements in bright blue, red, and gold tones. The center of the washbasin features a hand-painted female figure, featured in many of the manufactory's works, which may have been by an artist named Asti. The tray features two other tondos with female portraits, in the same style. Marks on the base identify the piece as having been made in the Moritz Zdekauer manufactory in Altrohlau (now in the Czech Republic, but once part of the Habsburg Empire). The factory operated between 1884 and 1909, changing its brand to MZ Altrolau from that date, continuing its work until 1945, being nationalized after World War II, and continuing under the name Starorolsky Porcelan Mortiz Zdekauer. -
