"Art Deco Ballets Russes Dancer, After Dh Chiparus"
Demitre H. Chiparus was famous for his Art Deco figures, especially those of the Ballet Russe dancers and their flamboyant costumes. Chiparus had a favorite male dancer: Vaslav Nijinsky (pictured). The statue almost certainly depicts Nijinsky. The statue features beautiful, bright colors, cold-painted on bronze, and rests on a brownish-white alabaster base. The faces and hands are made of resin. The hands are loose, and the left index finger is missing a piece. There is no signature on the sculpture. Attributed to Chiparus. Made circa 1925, the statue stands 32.8 cm tall.
