"Japan – Usubata Bronze Vase –tôshôsai - Ikebana – Meiji"
Usubata bronze vase for ikebana, with a removable double container with a very wide flat rim. The body has a relief decoration of a bird of prey and clouds resting on a base made of peony stems, flowers and leaves. The base of the vase is signed Tôshôsai. Ikébana, also known as kadō, "the way of flowers" or "the art of making flowers live", is a traditional Japanese art based on flower arrangement. The vases were made in the same villages where floral art was taught. Origin: Japan. Dimensions: Height: 22.5 cm; Diameter: 30 cm; Length: 29 cm. Period: Meiji era (1868 – 1912). Condition: Very good condition.
