"Saglier Freres And Henri Chaumeil: Art Deco Cup"
Elegant bowl on pedestal, in crackled earthenware, from the Art Deco period, product of the collaboration of the goldsmiths Saglier Frères, and the earthenware maker Henri Chaumeil. The Maison Saglier, founded in 1842 in Paris, became Saglier Frères in 1890, besides remarkable pieces of art nouveau and art deco shapes, made a specialty of assembling glassware, like those of the house Daum. Here in the 1930s it collaborated with Henri Chaumeil (1877-1944). This artist, trained in the family workshop in Desvres, produced products inspired by the past. In the 1930s he innovated and created ceramics in the modern spirit, and showed remarkable creativity. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs (SAD) and at the Salon d'Automne. This cup, on a silver metal base, is emblematic of the style of the 1930s, the stylized floral decoration recalling the motifs of the Vera brothers. Monogram ChPoincon SFT Very good condition.
