Bronze with black patina - signed on the neck, and numbered on the thigh 258/1111 - Brussberg publisher. Minor wear, the pike held by the figure is slightly deformed. After studying at the Vienna Academy, he belonged to the expressionist movement - He was part of the "degenerate art" exhibition in 1937. In 1938, after the Anschluss, his paintings were banned from exhibition by the Reich Chamber of Culture. In 1943, Hausner was dismissed from the Wehrmacht, declared unfit for combat and employed as a technical draftsman in the arms industry. In 1959, he participated in the II Documenta in Kassel and founded the Viennese School of Fantastic Realism with Ernst Fuchs.
