Beautiful Netsuke finely carved in young deer horn, with a small blackened wooden mouse inserted. Late 19th century.
Length = 55 mm

The Netsuke is a traditional Japanese ornament used to hold the sagemono to the kimono.
These small sculptures are suspended from the obi ("the belt") by a cord through the two holes of the netsuke.
Beautiful collector's and travel item.
