"A Silk Brocade Door - Morocco, Late 19th Century"
Circa 1880-1900MoroccoA door curtain in gold and fringed silk brocade for a prestigious Moroccan residence dating from the end of the 19th century. Composed of four panels sewn in salmon and blue brocade, it is fully lined with yellow cotton sateen, with ties at the top. Two brocades on a damask satin background with boxes of large flowers brocaded with gilded blades spun and curled on a silk core. At the bottom, a long gilded braid of fringes also with curled blades. These brocades are probably imported from a Lyon factory from the end of the 19th century. Note two small consolidations of the silk (see last photo), otherwise clean piece without hole or stain. Good general condition. Dimensions: 278 cm high by 79 cm wide. Plus 25 cm of fringes.
