He rubbed shoulders with the great artists of his time – such as Maurice Denis – and gradually drew closer to the Church in the last years of his life. Although born in Paris and having spent a large part of his career there, Paul Jamot remained very attached to his family's hometown, Reims, where a square bears his name. He thus played an important role in the cultural life of Reims – at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Reims in particular – after a career spanning several decades at the Louvre. Paul Jamot left to posterity a significant literary output, both critical and poetic. Furthermore, many works painted or collected by the latter are now distributed in several French museums, including the Louvre Museum, the Orsay Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in Reims.
