Period: early 20th century Art Deco, lost wax bronze with a beautiful patina, in very good condition, on a bronze base.
Signed: F. Gornik with founder's stamp: AR for Arthur Rubinstein, famous Austrian foundry.

Biography:
Friedrich GORNIK 1877 / 1943

Born in Carinthia, Austria, Gornik studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Vienna. He became known for his studies of animals for ceramics and sketches for vases, cups, etc.
He executed a number of bronze animal sculptures and plaster groups.
A group of horses, Trolka, executed in bronze by the founder Arthur Rubinstein, was purchased by the Emperor of Austria.
He also executed works representing human beings: Quarrels of young people, Departure of dragoons on horseback, etc.
