"Napoleon III Boulle School Desk In Natural Tortoise Shell "
Desk or middle table from the Napoleon III period, Boulle school in blackened wood inlaid with tortoise shells, cut brass, all framed with chiseled bronzes. The 4 legs bear the effigy of Marie Antoinette. Napoleon III used to order, when it was for his wife Princess Eugenie, furniture always having bronzes bearing the effigy of Marie Antoinette because she was in admiration for the great century and in particular for Marie Antoinette...we can think that this piece of furniture was the subject of an order from the palace.
