Pastel depicting this small monkey, highly revered in China. Since 1970 / 1980
Annotated on the back: "golden monkey" by A Derenne.
The Marie-Louise needs to be changed and the frame repainted.
The pastel itself is in very good condition.

Frame: 76cm x 56cm.

Highly revered in China, the golden monkey is one of the main national treasures alongside the giant panda. The Roxellana snub-nosed monkey is endemic to the mountainous regions of central-western China along the Tibetan plateau, in the provinces of Sichuan, Gansu, Hubei and Shaanxi.
