Circa 1900 Indonesia, South Sumatra Beautiful ceremonial skirt from the Lampong region in South Sumatra which gave its name to this type of piece and dating from the 1900s. Double-sided striped woven background in striped cotton in the warp direction and fluted effect by the weft (Gros de Tours?). Colors in vegetable dyes in shades of madder red, indigo, yellow and brown. Entirely embroidered with silver and gold blade threads decorated with stripes with geometric patterns and green and red felt applications. Application of gold threads with daisy patterns. Skirt made up of two complete strips with selvedges, sewn before embroidery. Some small pulled threads and micro stains here and there to stabilize, however no holes, or major defects. Good general condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: Width 107 cm Length 135 cm in 2 sewn strips.
