Lithograph On China Paper By Henri Rivière The Island Of Swans

This lithograph “Paysages Parisiens - L'Ile des Cygnes” is signed Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp at the bottom left. The work is authentic and old, it is a rare print on China paper published and printed by Eugène Verneau. For the condition, note in the margin small tears, small stains, ink lines, a halo at the top. On the litho, we report small stains and lighter vertical lines. The lithograph is very fresh in color, once framed most of the defects will be barely visible. Sold as presented. Henri Rivière (1864-1951) is a French painter, engraver and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and then with intaglio engraving and specifically etching in 1882. At the same time, he began a career as a director and scenographer, in 1886, of the shadow theater at the Chat Noir cabaret, shows which he improved by creating very innovative color sets. He then devoted himself exclusively to painting and engraving and established himself in the history of etching, printmaking, woodcuts, lithography and watercolor (he painted around a thousand watercolors).
