Lamp from Maison Charles* in gilt bronze, decorated with an exotic flower with its visible pistils, rectangular brown lampshade, from the 50s-70s 20th century. This lamp is in good condition and is of high quality. Not signed but attributed to Maison Charles. The electricity works. Please note: slight scratches and dirt, particularly on the square base, tiny wear on the lampshade, see photos. * Maison Charles: In 1908, Ernest CHARLES took over Maison ULLMANN, Bronzier. The company, then located at 103 rue de Turenne in Paris, specialized in the reproduction of antique lighting fixtures, thus building a reputation within the profession of artistic bronzier. In 1920, Emile Albert CHARLES, his eldest son, took over the company and in 1932 Emile CHARLES went into partnership with his brother Pierre. The House was then called CHARLES Frères. In 1959, Emile CHARLES was joined by his two sons: - Jean CHARLES, Major of the BOULLE school, interior design and wood sculpture section. - Jacques CHARLES, graduate of Applied Arts in Interior Architecture. From 1960, the "Charles lamps" were born. Emile-Albert CHARLES and his two sons, Jean and Jacques, created the "CHARLES Style" combining classicism, rigor and current events; a new approach in the field of lighting and decoration. These are the famous lamps: ANANAS, EPI DE MAIS, POMME DE PIN, LOTUS, VASE MEDICIS ... In 1960, the CHARLES Family took over the Maison FARGETTE and settled at 16 rue du Parc Royal, in the Marais, thus perpetuating a very rich collection of Style. The family, already assisted by Jean's wife, Chrystiane CHARLES, created the most emblematic elements of the Collection, and signed a new style in the field of lighting and decoration: these are the famous Ananas, Mais, Pomme de Pin, Lotus, Vase Médicis lamps... 1965, Creation of the INOX and Lacquers Line. The organ pipe lamps achieved great success and became an aesthetic reference of this period. In 1970, death of Jean, Jacques and Emile CHARLES. In 1971, Chrystiane CHARLES, Jean's wife and sculptor Gold Medalist of Fine Arts, then took over the Artistic Direction of the Maison CHARLES and created the Collection that bears her name.
