Driven by progress, Jean-Baptiste Ruaud encouraged Limousin porcelain makers to adopt coal firing, which only became widespread from 1856, the date of the opening of the Vierzon-Limoges railway line. The Ruaud factory was noted for its artistic production but also for its many attempts at technical innovations. It was at the origin of the industrial application of high-fire decoration in Limoges.
