Canvas dimensions 73x60cmPainter of landscapes, genre scenes and seascapes, Emmanuel Marcel Laurent was particularly attracted by Brittany and Breton folklore. He was part of the Concarneau Group before being appointed official painter of the Navy in 1942. The representation of the Port of Douarnenez, which bears the brightly colored naval anchor, animated by numerous characters, is typical of his work from the 1940s.
