Hendrik Frans van Lint (January 26, 1684; September 24, 1763) was a Flemish landscape painter among the most interesting of the group of Flemish and Dutch painters who moved to Rome for the great opportunity of study and work that the Capital offered. He is considered one of the main landscape painters of Rome in the first half of the 18th century and the works produced in his renowned workshop were requested both by the aristocratic families of Rome and by European travellers in memory of their Grand Tour. The large canvases were exhibited in the halls of noble palaces, while the small landscapes, often painted on wood, were intended to satisfy the market aimed at tourists of the City. The panel published here is a typical production of his workshop aimed at the Northern European market.
