Beautiful sketch, subject of the Prix de Rome of 1862, Véturie is represented at the feet of her son, Coriolanus, begging him to spare the city of Rome from the massacre he is about to commit. She is represented imploring him with, on the right side, kneeling, Volumnia and the children of Coriolanus.
