Object description :

"Silesian Iron Tassel Bracelet, Early 19th Century"
This Silesian wire bracelet with two tassels is in very good condition. The clasp is a double hook. Silesian wirework dates from the late 1700s. The last pieces are thought to have been completed in 1805, when metalwork production moved to Berlin and the style evolved. The gray wire is intricately woven like lace and is as light as air. The pieces are said to have been made in Gleiwitz, Silesia (now part of Germany and Poland), although similar work is said to have originated in France as early as 1789, spurred on by the French Revolution.
The popularity of iron and steel jewelry is thought to be a result of the political and social climates of the war era.

Note: A small part of one loop is missing; the next one is detached from the bracelet band, with no effect on its use.
Here is a very rare piece in this condition!
