Antique Italian Rectangular Center Coffee Table With Scagliola Top hand-made using gilt wood friezes from the 1700s, two vases with carved leaf handles, flanked by scrolls and acanthus leaves, antique carved, gilded and applied decorations on an ivory colour lacquered wood panel. This antique Italian low table is rectangular in shape, is a center table, the decoration on the back side is mirrored to that on the front. The rectangular, stepped base with shaped corners and gilt frame on which this antique coffee table rests is wide and stable, hand-made in the last quarter of the 20th century.
The polychrome top boasts a combination of delicate colors such as yellow ochre, powder blue, coral pink, and three ivory-colored reserves with black oval motif in the center. Rectangular shaped, with rounded corners and molded edge, this original extraordinary scagliola top is handcrafted by a workshop in Como around 1980, the mastery of Italian craftsmanship and the material imitating marble makes it unique. The elegant proportions and very warm tones make this rare coffee-table a period table that can be set not only in furniture of classic taste, but also in contemporary interiors.
Coming from a private collection in Milan, it is in good condition with signs of wear and tear in the wooden base only, minor losses and gilding discolorations, as documented in the photo gallery.
Scagliola top cannot be dismantled.
