The mother-of-pearl plates are superb, highly iridescent with striking multi-colored reflections.
Two internal structural plates are made of copper.
The front cover is decorated in its center with a cartouche formed by a ribbon, centered by a shield bearing the number MB.
The edges of the covers, the spine, and the clasp, all in silver, are very finely engraved with scrolls and flowers.
The mount is hallmarked with a swan, a later French hallmark guaranteeing solid silver.
This is a 19th-century work.
A magnificent notebook binding of great value, with its scattering of silver stars standing out against the shimmering white background of the mother-of-pearl covers.
It is perfect for slipping a small notebook or diary into.
