19th Century Mother-of-pearl And Sterling Silver Stars Dance Book Or Note Book Binding.

The binding consists of two mother-of-pearl plates entirely studded with small silver stars and joined by a silver mount.

The mother-of-pearl plates are superb, highly iridescent with striking multi-colored reflections.

Two internal structural plates are made of copper.

The front cover is decorated in its center with a cartouche formed by a ribbon, centered by a shield bearing the number MB.

The edges of the covers, the spine, and the clasp, all in silver, are very finely engraved with scrolls and flowers.

The mount is hallmarked with a swan, a later French hallmark guaranteeing solid silver.

This is a 19th-century work.
