"Statue Of The Ancestor Of The Mbole People, Drc"

Statue representing an ancestor in the form of a standing male figure. The general appearance is punctuated by a play of lines forming angles and by this black and yellow bichromy. The neck is powerful and supports a slightly inclined head. The half-open mouth lets the breath pass while the expression of the gaze is accentuated by black eyebrows thus standing out from the yellow of the face. A high hairstyle elongates the general appearance of the statue.
Note the presence of the penis and testicles which marks the lineage of the clan.
Wood with patina of use, pigments, erosion at the base and cracks.
