The wings at his feet allow him to move quickly and are one of his distinctive signs. Mercury, represented as an athletic young man, is propelled into the air by a baby blower.
In his momentum, he raises his arm, indicating the sky, the source of divine knowledge.
The sculpture rests on an onyx base.
