Object description :

"Tortoiseshell Snuffbox With Micromosaic Temple Of Minerva Medica Rome XVIII Century"
Tortoiseshell box with a round central insert on the lid depicting the Temple of Minerva Medica in Rome.
On the sides it has a beautiful decoration made of gold and silver piqué with plant motifs and a reserve on each side of the mosaic with the remains of an aqueduct in the center on the left and two columns, one of which is cut off on the right.

The Temple of Minerva Medica is an interesting building, still existing, from late antiquity, which attracted much interest already in the Renaissance for its polylobed shape. In reality it was a nymphaeum.

It should be noted that in 1828 a part of the dome collapsed, still existing in the mosaic, which is therefore earlier

Mosaic size : cm 5

Condition are excellent but for a little crack on the internal part of the cover
