The case is rectangular, hinged with a snap fastener adorned with a blue stone or glass cabochon.
The front is covered with blue enamel with gold flakes, imitating lapis lazuli.
In the upper left corner, the god Osiris is depicted in profile, seated on his throne, wearing the Atef crown and holding the Hela scepter and the Nekhekh, symbols of his sovereignty.
In the lower left corner, a cartouche containing hieroglyphs.
The case is hallmarked 935 for the fineness of the silver.
In the absence of a silversmith's mark, it is difficult to attribute this case, especially since this Egyptian theme is rare on this type of object. However, the great silversmith Louis Kuppenheim has a referenced production of cases and boxes in an Asian style, which he signed with ideograms.
It is possible that he also made some pieces in an Egyptian style, with these cartouches echoing the idea of a signature in hieroglyphs. Unfortunately, I have not been able to confirm this hypothesis.
This case is nevertheless superb with its enamel imitation lapis lazuli and this rare Egyptian decoration.
