Object description :

"Kirman Rug, 117 X 210 Cm, Hand-knotted Kork Wool Circa 1970 In Iran, In Very Good Condition"
Kirman or Kerman rug, Iran circa 1970 in kork wool, finely hand-knotted.
It measures 117 cm wide by 210 cm long with a density of approximately 450,000 knots per m2.
Rug in magnificent condition.
The very soft and fine kork wool is the wool taken from under the neck and belly of lambs.
The Kirman is often decorated with flowers and most of the time has a medallion that stands out on a plain background.
The abundant decoration is very complicated, it must have required great dexterity from the knotters of this very pretty piece.
Here, the motifs of the medallion, like a large flower hanging from two pendants are repeated in the border drawing an oval punctuated with botehs side by side and bouquets.
The shades on a wine lees base, combine blues, chestnut and ivory. Thick and comfortable rug, the wool being first-rate.
The exterior design of the border takes up the architectural design of small voussoirs that we find in the doors and arches of Central Asia and all of ancient Persia.
Some of these rugs also feature large animal scenes.
Our model, a kirman strewn with flowers, is very delicate and beautiful.
Kerman is the largest city in the South-East of Iran and is the capital of the province of the same name.
The reputation of Kirman rugs and raver rugs is due to the excellence of the "Ostads", these incredibly skilled cartoon designers, who have kept the sense of tradition of these "great" Persian rugs.
The deep harmony of colors results from a perfect dosage which testifies to the great creativity of the Kirman craftsmen.
This piece is in perfect condition, and has been professionally and ecologically cleaned.
