"Martel Geo Ball Vase "jouy" Art Deco Decor"
Ball vase with serrated edge by Gorges Martel (known as Géo) faiencier in Desvres (62) typical of his Art Deco period. This decoration called "Jouy" is inspired by the textile patterns of Toile de Jouy. This vase is signed underneath GM and bears the number 2737/XI. Some small chips on the neck. His daughter Rita Martel Euzet wrote a book on the work of her father and more particularly of this period: Géo Martel Faiencier "Jouy, a decoration in its time"
