Japanese merchant's chest (choba-dansu) in Keyaki. It consists of five drawers and two sliding doors. Two side handles are applied to the sides. The hardware is wrought iron. Beautiful patina formed of two different shades. Choba-dansu chests were used by merchants on the choba (raised platform of a store) to store daifukucho (account books) and related business materials. Dimensions: Height: 67 cm; Length: 66 cm; Width: 29.5 cm. Origin: Japan. Period: Meiji era (1868 - 1912) - 19th. Conditions: Very good overall condition.
