"Solid Silver Chalice By Armand Calliat In Lyon With Paten And Box - 19th Century"
Superb liturgical chalice in solid silver, made by Armand Calliat, a famous 19th-century goldsmith from Lyon. Based in Lyon, Calliat was one of the greatest religious goldsmiths of his time, known for his refined works and commissioned by many churches in France. This chalice, of great elegance, has a finely chiseled flared foot, a decorated knot and a sober cup. It is accompanied by its paten, engraved with a cross, and its original case. Note: the paten, although period and perfectly matched in use, is not signed by the same goldsmith as the chalice. A rare piece, representative of the know-how of religious goldsmithing in Lyon in the 19th century. ↓
