"French School, Young Girl In Prayer, C. 1830, 800x630 Mm, Oil On Canvas To Be Restored"
Large oil on canvas depicting a young girl praying under a large red canopy, in an unfastened satin dress, her headdress placed near her on a fireside chair. Despite the general condition of the canvas, which suffers from multiple conservation issues, the scene remains quite readable, and beautiful details remain.
The rendering of the fabrics and the young girl's amiable physiognomy attest to a good hand. The canvas is partly detached from its frame, there are numerous cracks and some flaking and missing parts.
Old restorations, notably visible on the back.
In any case, a beautiful format and a charming subject, painted with great sensitivity and gentleness, and which has very good potential after restoration.
