Pewter Blacksmiths' Corporate Tankard - 18th Century

Large CORPORATE MUG in pewter with a truncated cone resting on three skates depicting grotesque masks, with a molded spout and a "ball" thumb lid topped with a soldier presenting a shield loaded in relief with the attributes of a blacksmiths' corporation. It is decorated "in repoussé" and engraved with oblique gadroons and rectangular motifs.
Engraved patronymic mention HLO and dated 1742.
Foundry countermark on the inside bottom: bundle of tools accompanied by a crowned W.
Height: 35.3 cm
EAST GERMANY or CENTRAL EUROPE, Mid-18th century

In used condition with deformations and cracks at the neck and small holes at the bottom; a fragility of one of the pads is also reported.
