Accessible between nos. 21 and 23 of the Petite rue des Bouchers, this narrow cobbled alley leads to two basket-handle passages. The one on the left, dating from the 17th century, leads to the Toone VII puppet theater and museum, established here in 1966. The cul-de-sac is spanned by more recent double brick brace arches. On the northeast side rise sober two-story buildings (nos. 1, 2), whose 19th-century appearance hides an old core, revealed at no. 2 by hook anchors.
Raphaël LAGYE (Antwerp, 1862-1952).
Painter, draftsman, poster designer. Son and student of Victor Lagye. His work reflects atmospheric realism. He worked for a time in Brussels, where his views of romantic cities earned him a certain success. He taught for 35 years at the Antwerp School of Drawing. With the composer Peter Benoit and the writer Emmanuel Hiel, he formed an inseparable trio of artists. Works at the "Vleeshuis" in Antwerp.
