"A Wooden Okimono Depicting Bishamonten"
A wooden okimono depicting Bishamonten, the God of warriors and guardian of temples. In one hand he holds a stupa, the pagoda that represents the divine teaching of the Buddha, while in the other he holds a spear, a symbol of power and protection.
Period: Meiji, late 19th century.
Dimensions: 15 x 5 x 7 cm.
Condition: Good. The right hand has been glued following a probable break, as has the drapery at the bottom right. The inlay is original and in excellent condition.
