"Katar Dagger With Gold Damascened Handle - India, 19th Century"
Dagger called katar with gold damascened handle - India, 19th century Gold damascened steel handle (koftgari technique). Wear and missing damascene. Double-edged blade reinforced at the tip. On one side the blade bears an arsenal inscription in Devanagari which can be translated as "RA KE-S-55??" RA for Raa or Raja, therefore refers to a royal arsenal. KE is an indication of place. S, I don't know and 55 probably an indication of date. It should be noted that the handle is relatively narrow, I only place the index, middle and ring fingers there. Length 38cm Blade length 23cm Weight 315gr
