"Kriss Saber - Indonesia, Bali, 2nd Half Of The 19th Century"
Superb kriss saber - Indonesia, Bali, 2nd half of the 19th century Handle representing Batara Bayu, Indonesian version of Vayu, the Indian god of the wind. The handle is set with precious stones and glass beads (some missing). The wranka of the scabbard is most likely made of mammoth ivory. The scabbard is made of wood and a copper alloy with floral decoration worked in repoussé. Very beautiful blade in pamor steel (steel forged by superimposing different layers of metal, one or more of which has a high nickel content, hence the white/silver color).
