Gouache Painting Animated Architectural Caprices Signed Pierre-antoine Patel (1648 - March 15)

Pair of gouaches signed and dated by the painter Pierre-Antoine Patel (November 22, 1648 - March 15, 1707). They represent architectural whims animated by ancient characters. Good condition, framed, see photos. Dimensions on view: 23 cm / 18 cm. with frame: 37 cm / 31 cm. Son and student of Pierre Patel, with whom he is sometimes confused, he specialized, following his father, in the landscape of ancient ruins, of which he accentuated the picturesque style (twisted trees, bushy vegetation, decaying marshes). Received at the Academy of Saint-Luc in 1677, he is notably the author of a series of twelve paintings representing the twelve months of the year.
