Beautiful intaglio print from Rossini's Antichità Romane series, a collection of 101 etchings published in Rome in 1825. The letter of the print provides various information: "Rossini dis. et inc." [Rossini draftsman and engraver], "Roma 1819", and a short descriptive text about the fountain, made "from a single large block of Egyptian granite" and built "during the pontificate of Pius VII".
A beautiful panorama of Rome from this Quirinal Square, which has remained practically unchanged, adorned with these two gigantic Dioscuri found in the Baths of Diocletian. We can see the Basilica of Saint Peter as well as the Column of Marcus Aurelius, still in place in the Piazza Colonna.
Good general condition; some foxing is noted.
Good quality frame, which has the merit of elegance and simplicity.
