"Maurice Journaux. Barbizon. 1934. Pair Of Paintings. Oil On Paper"
Pair of paintings (oil on drawing paper) by Maurice Journaux (biography unknown) but listed on Akoun or Artprice. French painter from the first half of the 20th century. The first painting represents the artist's studio in Barbizon in 1934. This impressionist painting is an interior-exterior view. In the foreground on the left are curtains and the open door. On the right, on a low wall, some pots with brushes. Outside, a pretty courtyard with flowers and trees, with a house in the background. The play of light and the perfectly controlled depth give the painting a very lively atmosphere. It is signed lower right with the words "Barbizon 1934".
Measures : 34 × 26 cm without the marie-louise and 46 × 37 with it.
The second painting is a view of a rabbit hutch at the bottom of a garden. It is not as interesting as the view of the studio, however, it is very well done, the color palette is superb and complements the other painting very well. It is signed lower right and dated 1935.
Measures : 36 × 26 cm without Marie-Louise and 46 × 36.5 cm with.
Both paintings are unframed. The Marie-Louise are to be replaced.
